LOCUM CONSULTANT GASTROENTEROLOGIST (10 PA job plan)
1 vacancy in Eastbourne DGH, 1 vacancy in Conquest Hospital
Our mission is to provide a wide range of safe and high quality healthcare, delivered by a skilled and caring workforce, committed to putting people first and striving for excellence.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Gastroenterology team as a Consultant Gastroenterologist. We are looking to recruit a Consultant to complement and enhance our existing experienced team, which currently comprises 9 consultants (including this post).
Based at Eastbourne District General Hospital the poster holder will be given the opportunity to develop sub speciality interests that complement those of the current team.
There is shared care of the inpatients under the Gastroenterology team. The successful applicant will have dedicated weekly sessions in our newly opened Endoscopy Unit. Wide experience in upper and lower GI diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy is essential. There are a number of Gastroenterology out-patient clinics including nurse led clinics. We are supported by 2 Nurse Endoscopists on both acute sites (further two in training) who undertake independent GI lists. There are 2 specialist IBD nurses and nutrition teams with specialist dietician led clinics on both sites. Weekly MDT meetings are held with video-conferencing for upper/lower GI malignancy and non cancer MDT with an excellent integrated service with surgery and diagnostic/interventional radiology.
Currently inpatients are cared for on dedicated Gastroenterology wards at both Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital. There is currently a 1:13 commitment to general medicine on call at Eastbourne (this is likely to be reduced upon commencement of an out of hours acute upper GI endoscopy service) and 1:16 at the Conquest.
You should have full GMC registration and be on the GMC’s Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the date of interview, or be within six months of your CCT date.
The post will be offered on the terms and conditions of the new Consultant contract.
Appropriate office accommodation, secretarial and IT support will be provided.
