Applications are sought for an enthusiastic individual to work as a secretary in the Cellular Pathology department at East Sussex Healthcare Trust. The role will involve providing secretarial and clerical support to the team of Histopathologists in the department. You must be highly motivated with excellent communication skills, an ability to use your own initiative and work well under pressure. You will be adaptable, reliable and a proven team member. You will be working with a wide range of people and communicating with both patients and staff therefore empathy and patience is essential.
Applicants should have as a minimum GCSE English (Grade C or above), the RSA 3 Text & word processing qualification or equivalent and experience of audio typing. A background in working in a medical secretarial environment is highly desirable with knowledge of medical terminology and good audio typing skills.
Candidates should be willing and able to work cross site when required.
The department is a busy yet friendly department that handles approximately 28000 surgical samples per annum. The main site, The Conquest Hospital, St Leonards on sea, carries out specimen selection, all tissue processing, section cutting, staining, immunohistochemistry and quality control activities. The satellite site is based at Eastbourne DGH where specimen selection occurs. The department is modern, well equipped and has a semi automated immunocytochemistry section with new state of the art equipment.
