A vacancy has arisen for a Rotational Dispensary and Distribution Assistant (Band 2) in the Pharmacy Dept. at Eastbourne DGH, Eastbourne, which is part of the East Sussex Healthcare Trust.

Duties will include participation in the stock supply service to wards and departments within the Trust, (including sites within the East Sussex geography), assisting the storekeeper in the receipt and distribution of medicines, and supporting the work of the dispensary which involves the supply of medicines to patients and wards, working within a multi-disciplinary team, including: stock management, issuing of pharmaceutical products, and day-to-day maintenance of the robotic automatic dispensing system.

We are looking for an applicant with enthusiasm and innovative thinking.

Proven organisational and team skills are essential along with good verbal and written communication skills.

A good standard of health & fitness is necessary as this work can be strenuous.

Applicants should possess good basic education to minimum exam grade level, including Maths and English.

It is a requirement of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society that all non-professional staff undertake an NVQ level 2 in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The department is committed to providing the appropriate training and support for all staff however successful applicants are expected to achieve the standards required within 18months of appointment.

This is a full time post (37.5 hours a week). Hours include weekend work and bank holiday working on a rota basis. Cover for late night working will also be required on a weekly basis. Salary will start at the base of Band 2 unless previous NHS experience is agreed with Human Resources.

This post requires the post holder to work across all East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust sites; however a designated base site will be assigned.
