We are looking for a dynamic and experienced hospital pharmacist to work with us in a post based within our Oncology and Haematology specialisms. This post will be predominately based at Eastbourne, although there may be an element of cross site working at Hastings.
If you do not have the relevant experience we may be able to offer you a training contract. As a trainee you will have completed the 1st year of your pharmacy diploma and be continuing with your final year if not already successfully completed.
Salary for the band 7 Annex 21 (training up to one year) post will be £31,340 per annum. The training will be an in-house package, based on standards set by Regional QA and BOPA. After achieving the required standard the post holder will be moved onto the band 7 pay scale.
Under the supervision of our Lead Pharmacist for Aseptics and Cancer Services you will work closely with consultants, other medical staff, nurses and pharmacy staff in ensuring that medicine use is safe, rational, effective and evidence based across ESHT. The post holder will be involved in providing a clinical pharmacy services to the specialist Oncology - Haematology ward, Oncology/Haematology Day Units, Clinical Trials service and aseptic service provision, and occasional support to the dispensary. This post also holds an education and training element, which in the past has proved successful in developing staff as a result of the skills they have acquired in people management and personnel development. This has led to many previous post-holders gaining promotion to lead or management positions. The successful candidate will also be responsible for helping to train and mentor pre-registration pharmacists, pharmacy undergraduates and rotational clinical pharmacists. The applicant will also need to join the department weekend and on-call service on a rota basis following a period of orientation and induction.
We have a successful track record of delivering diploma training and applicants will be encouraged to complete their studies through the HEKSS commissioned foundation programme.
We are seeking a patient focused pharmacist aiming to build on established clinical skills and work closely with clinicians in providing a high quality service to patients within ESHT. We also require someone who can demonstrate a commitment to personal and staff development.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
